Question:

On my Mac Leopard system, when I drag a file to the desktop, it auto arranges it left. How can I stop this?

I DON'T have it set to autoarrange, so what gives?

  1. Right click or control click on your desktop and then click show more options. Make sure arrange by is selected to none.


  2. Click on the desktop, go to View < Show View Options. Check to see what is next to "Arrange By:" Try changing it and closing the window, reopening it, and changing it back to the desired function.

    If that doesn't work, make sure that your Macintosh HD icon is on the right side. If it is hidden, show it on the desktop, move it, and then hide it again.

    If that doesn't work, you might have to find some specific .plist files and trash them.
