  9. I'll provide a few links for you at the end of this answer. Check these out by downloading them and scanning your system with them.

If all else fails and the virus cannot be deleted, use the last two links at the end of the answer. I will describe them down there...

    Good luck!

    -------TRY THESE!------------

http://lavasoft.com -- For AdAware, to find adware & spyware

http://kaspersky.com -- Download the trial of Kaspersky anti virus. Great and up to date definitions.

    ---------If all else fails--------

    1) Download HijackThis -- http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/...

    2) Scan & Copy the log that HJT gives you

    3) Paste the log into a new topic on BleepingComputer.com -- http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f...

    4) Wait a few hours for someone to go over your log and provide you with steps to delete the virus.

Having a human go over the results works better, and is worth the wait.

  10. The best way to get rid of trojans is using a best anti-spyware to protect your computer.Anti-Virus is not good at removing trojans.

You must have 1 or 2 antispyware on your computer to protect your computer.

Top 5 anti-spywares reviews, comparisons and download links on

    http://www.anti-spyware-center.com/index...

You can download and scan your computer for free.

  11. Download a free trial of Kaspersky antivirus at http://usa.kaspersky.com/ .

Also try free trial versions of Counteryspy V2 and Webroot Spy Sweeper, from http://www.download.com , if that doesn't do it. In addition, HijackThis! and SuperAntispyware are two of the better free programs out there.

Pay-for software, even free trials of it, will find and disinfect many trojan programs that the freebies just can't. Be careful with a lot of the purely free software out there. Much of it just isn't very good, or is in fact harmful to your system.

  12. Depends on what the beasty is:

AVG free is not perfect. The other day I picked up a little beauty (didn't have linkscanner turned on, but that isn't important in your case, you are already infected) the website wrote an exe right to my c:\

No matter what I did these so called .gifs kept appearing and reappearing in my temporary internet files folders - if I deleted the folders xp would create new ones for it to appear in.

Of course I'd get the avg popup telling me it had detected and deleted the trojan downloader (and that's what alerted me to the fact it went deeper than avg free)

I disco'd from the web and they stopped, I reconnected and they started appearing again.

So I searched for all files created that day and found the little &^%*^$*$&

I disconnected again and restarted in safge mode (F8 when bios flashed on kbrd) went into 'my computer' and deleted the exe. It was only like 72k or something and the so called gifs that were actually trojan downloaders were only like 34k. But those were just the seeds, eh? Who knows where the water was.

Then I did a command line scan in avg and a couple of other housekeeping tasks -  found dozens of sp2 uninstall attempts, etc. cleaned the registry, etc.

Long story short? You might have to nuke it yourself because AVG free (without rootkit, etc.) is not the magic bullet, and if you are already infected, the free version may not do you any good at all.

  13. Cheapest way would be to download Ad-Aware 2008 from downloads.com for free, make it do a full system scan, and when its over tell it to remove everything malicious it has detected. Problem solved.

  14. I have avast and you can download it for free on www.avast.com also get anti-spyware and spybot search and destroy

  15. cheapest way is to ask your internet provider for thier virus protection on yahoo/att its free

  16. Download avast antivirus from http://www.avast.com/index_ger.html

  17. Download AVG, Adaware 2008, Spybot Search and Destroy, and Spyware Blaster.

Those are the anti-viruses that I have.  They're free, too!

Run an AVG scan and it should pick up on the virus. It will ask you to heal it or move it to the vault. If it's not healable, move it to the vault and delete the file there. Problem solved.

If the infected file might be important to your system, then leave the virus in the vault for a week to see how the computer does without it.

If AVG doesn't pick up on the virus, go to www.bitdefender.com and run an online scan. It takes a long time, so it's good to leave it running overnight.

  18. If Ad-aware and AVG cannot find the virus.. the sure fire way of cleaning it out would be a format. That involves backing up everything you want to keep and re-installing windows (I am assuming you run windows). Formatting used to take a whole day but with today's fast computers, it is much much faster. The tech support provided by your computer manufacturer (if your computer is a brand name computer) will gladly teach you how to do it. It is a good skill to learn anyways because you never know when windows will decide to die on you completely. As a bonus, you will never need to pay anyone anymore to fix major software issues with your computer.
