Hello People

So I was on the train from Chichester to Fratton yesterday coming home from work, I go through a lot of countryside and fields so I always see the normal pheasants, deer, brown rabbits, herons etc, but this time the train passed a bunch of black rabbits, white rabbits, and normal brown rabbits chilling out in the field. I was a bit suprised as I've never seen black and white rabbits in the wild, is this normal, and where do they come from?

  1. Who says they are wild. Many people decide to leave their pets in the wild after they can't keep them anymore. Rabbits are common, never a fun pet in my opinion. They would eventually mate in the general population again.

  2. We have lots of black wild rabbits around here

  3. someones pet rabbits got lose and have been doing what rabbits do.

  4. they come from people letting there pets that they dont want out and some escaping but they are just like wild rabbits so they just mate with the wild ones which makes more odd coloured ones

  5. What most likely happened is a pet rabbit escaped and bred with rabbit from the wild, hence the different coloured one. When I was a kid my rabbit escaped from her pen in the garden and she got pregnant with a wild rabbit's babies. We also had another rabbit escape and not come back, was really sad until saw caramel coloured bunnies hoping around the fields by our house - he must have found a partner and integrated :-)

  6. these are generally seen in India.

  7. the rabbits are massing to launch an attack on the human race, stay indoors .

  8. You can often find wild rabbits that are not brown, usually as a result of breeding with domestic rabbits that may have escaped or been 'set free' when the owner has lost interest or dumped them.

  9. They are proabably domestic rabbits or relatives of them, which have escaped from their owners or they have been abandoned. You do occasionally get albino's but they are very rarely seen in the wild, as they an easily spotted prime target for foxes.
