The 45-year-old former Pakistani skipper agreed that after an impressive show in the recently concluded CB series, the Lankans would be high on confidence, however, he has a lot of positives to be taken from India’s last league match against Sri Lanka, where
the Men in Blue chased down a daunting 321-run target quite comfortably with seven wickets and more than 13 overs to spare.
Akram reckoned that Dhoni and his men will be eager to overturn their topsy-turvy performance in the tri-series down under.
"After their CB Series run, the Lankans will be upbeat...India remain the best team on paper,” said Wasim Akram speaking to the media reporters ahead of the tournament opener between Pakistan and Bangladesh at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Sunday.
“They have the depth in batting, the variety in bowling. In their last game in the CB Series against the Lankans, India showed what they are capable of,” he added further.
The legendary pacer further said that the comfortable seven-wicket win over the formidable Lankans would act as a tonic boost for the Indians in Dhaka.
He however, did opine that Sri Lanka’s fine form and Pakistan’s ability to surprise any world class team on their day makes it an open championship where any of the three Asian giants can return triumphant.
