On photoshop 7.0, what brush do I use to......?

Keep the texture of the Image but change the color; like do this:

Please Help!!! I need to know what brush to use!!!!!!! :P

Use a soft default brush and apply the colour on a different colour layer.  As you go along, change the mode from normal to multiply (or lighten/screen/overlay/soft light) at half opacity.
