I was riding the Blue Line CTA and between two of the stops there were these flats/condos/apartments that looked very unique made from wood with stairs that wound onto the roof. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about them?

  1. You'll see these all over the city; it's nothing unique. You can access the roof of many apartment buildings.

You might be thinking of a portion of the Blue Line's O'Hare branch where the el goes rides right alongside some apartments and shops in Wicker Park, near the Damen stop.

  2. They're pretty common, actually - if you take the Red Line between North/Clybourn and Addison you'll see lots of them as well.  You were probably in the Wicker Park neighborhood, which, like Lincoln Park along the Red Line, has lots of those types of apartments.
