It has the numbers "41" and "54"

What does that mean?

Been a NorCal cop for 20 years no one seems to know up here. Please be accurate, a lunch bet is on the line.

  1. Both numbers relate to two monumental events in LAPD's history that  changed the D platoon's path and how they operate.

The 41 relates to LAPD SWAT's first major challenge deployment in December of 1969. On December 9th, LAPD officers tried to serve search warrants for illegal weapons at the Black Panther Headquarters at 41st and Central Streets.

The 54 relates to the SLA shootout in 1974.

The LAPD SWAT commander on scene used a loud speaker and delivered the following "people in the house on 1466 East 54th Street, this is the LAPD. Come out with your hands up!" 54 stands for the safe house that was on the 54th street in Los Angeles.
