  5. He definitely deserves it, he really played the character so amazingly. His performance blew away pretty much anyone who saw it, and he just... became the character. He made the Joker one that no one will ever forget once seen. And he worked so very very hard to find and produce that Joker we see in the movie.

    However, with that said, he is dead. He cannot accept the award. Even if he is "up there watching down on us". It wouldn't do anything to advance his career, because sadly, it has ended. While I can't think of anyone else so far that produced such a marvellous character and put so much into it, I think the Oscar should go to a living person. BUT Heath should definitely be mentioned. Given an honorable mention, something to that effect. As others have said, what good will the Oscar do? His family will most likely have it. It would be nice for them to look at I'm sure. But there is someone who's career could be advanced because of that Oscar. And there are other actors who work very hard as well. I'm sure Heath would understand if it didn't go to him! And it's not like if he doesn't win his efforts were disregarded. There are millions of people who think that he did an outstanding job. I'm sure Heath would be content enough with that.

  6. This was probably one of the 5 greatest movies of all time. Largely due to the fact that the Joker could not have been played any better. Yes, he should get an Oscar. Being dead or alive is irrelevant.
