  1. It is different for forwards and backs, but not so much nowadays as the roles of positions are different. most players will run 3 km during a game but it can be less or more depending on the speed of the game. But 3 km is the average

  2. Mate !

    Impossible question.

Every game is different but generally the loose forwards do the most running.

If you are aware of the All Blacks you probably know of Dan Carter and Ritchie Mc Caw - both enormous international talents.  During a two point five-ish kilometer training run durring the world cup - McCaw  came in ahead of DC even though over 100 meters, DC would burn up most international wingers.

Loose forwards generally have to cover the most ground, particularly if the game is not going as planned.

But every game has different dynamics. These days the tight five are fast becoming extremely mobile. Some of the locks are just as quick as blindside flankers and the big number eights. Aggressive half backs are also very busy.

  3. 30 miles

  4. In American football you calculate the distance a player runs but not in rugby, not that I know of anyway!!!It's about the points you score!!!
