is there payphones around?

iim going with my friend and my mom is giving me a calling card, will i be able to use it?

do i need a credit card number?

There are payphones at the ports, but NOT on the ship.  Keep in mind those are international pay phones so your calling card needs to work overseas and you'll need to know how to connect from each country.  

The calling card company can usually give you this info.  I used an AT&T calling card all over the world the first time I left home.

From the ship it's possible to place "satellite" calls but they are crazy-expensive.  Roughly $7 a minute, and you'd need a credit card for that (it's applied to your cabin account).

We were on the Triumph in March - - no payphones.  If you have a cellphone, when you are in port, you may get service.
