Hey last week i had breakthrough bleeding and it seemed as if it was my normal period! it was light and then got heavy and then light and its just been random spotting for a few days now and then now i have no period and this week is the week I'm supposed to have it. do you think it was just my period last week early?

how does this happen because I'm on the pill?

should this week i not be nervous that my period could still come??

thanks in advance!!

  1. Breakthrough bleeding is common on the pill if one is starting out because the body is trying to adjust to being on the medication.  It can take up to 3 months to fully adjust to being on the medication.

Breakthrough bleeding can also occur if someone has been on the pill for a while because the amount of estrogen in the pill brand may be too low for that lady.

Sometimes breakthrough bleeding or spotting can occur when on the pill if someone is stressed about something (regardless of whether the thing causing the stress is good or bad).  I've had this happen to me a few times.

If this bleeding gets really heavy I would recommend letting your doctor know what's going on.
