On the start up tab in msconfig, what should i leave checked?

I am using windows xp. I want to know which programs i should leave checked when i am modifying what programs should start with windows. Could i uncheck all of them? Would that do anything bad to windows?

  1. You dont want to start messing around with configurations unless you know exactly what your doing.

    The very first one RUNDLL32.EXE is needed to run the operating system. They also control the virus scanner amont other things.

    But if your determined to find out what they do. Then the best way would be click one off then restart, one at a time. Nice and slow. BUT............ I would create a system restore point before you even attempt this. Good Luck

  3. dont mess with programs if your not sure !!!!!

    heres a link go through to disable services .. take time to do this ... save link ... for any problems u might have ... i have vista ... at one point had 53  services running down to 34 .. and no problems at all ... start up if fast as well as shut down and reboots
