  1. Inbound is a train coming in from a destination into a station, and outbound means that a train is departing for a destination.

So say from Kings Cross an Inbound service from Leeds is coming into the station and the outbound is leaving Kings Cross heading to Leeds.

  2. outbound means leaving the city inbound means go into the city.

  3. I think the simplest way would be to say the difference between coming and going.

  4. an 'inbound' journey is one that is coming IN to a particular city/station, and an 'outbound' journey is one that is going OUT of the city station to another place.

  5. In NY, when express buses or trains are going to enter Manhattan, they mostly say inbound. Outbound when trains goes out off Manhattan.

In Philly, inbound is when SEPTA/PATCO enters Center City and outbound when trains goes out of Center City.

  6. relative to the city you are in, inbound is coming to the city, outbound is leaving.
