Hey...Traveling to Dover on the train and wanted to know - Do they check baggage? Or do you have to keep it with you.. Will be taking the Max.in baggage......

..and if anyone know - what's the difficulty level of moving baggage from train to underground to train? ( have to go from King's Cross to Victoria) .. Is just easier to take a taxi?

Thnx!

  1. Right - I assume you are going Edinburgh - Kings X and Victoria - Dover, but If I can, I'd make a different suggestion to avoid the nightmare of large baggage on the underground - worth avoiding if all possible - the other passengers won't like you much! Get a taxi if you can't do the one below for any other reason

When you get off at Kings Cross, aim for St Pancras and follow the signs for Platforms A/B (First Capital Connect) and take a train to Brighton (First Capital Connect) and get off at London Bridge. Here, change onto a Dover train (it might be better to get the first Hastings train as far as Tonbridge and change there - It goes a quicker route I think so you can get a train that left London a bit earlier

    Hope that helps

  2. The answer to ur first question is no .. no baggage checks .. for ur second question .. there are luggage racks @ the ends of each coach so ur heavy luggage can be placed there .. take ur hand luggage to ur seat and place it in the racks above ur head... once in london <kings cross> take a taxi . they are situated to the right of the station <as u walk out > .sit back and enjoy the ride to victoria .the luggage situation to dover  would be very much the same... the average journey time <edinburgh - london kings cross > 4hrs 40mins .. taxi time .. 20 mins .. victoria to dover priory .. 1hr 45mins .. have a good trip ... this way would be the easiest..

  3. They will not check your baggage on the train, you just carry it on with you. There are sniffer dogs & detectors, to sniff out explosives & drugs, but these are done discreetly & for your safety. Basically it's up to you to carry your own luggage. There is no 'Max in baggage'. If you can carry it & find room on the luggage racks, fine. If not you may have taken too much?
