This figure has been banded around for the last ten years, ask the local council tax payer how much goes on their council tax bill when one of the royals visits any town, painting, new toiletsfacilities, extra police, street cleaning, no parking cones every ten yards, that and helecoptor taxis for a game of golf why the h**l do they think the "peasants" are so thick

  1. How much does our biggest "tourist attraction" bring in?...do NOT  insult all the peasants as some of us realise that if you calculated it properly you would realise that they are massively profitable for the UK...yes PROFIT...I am a peasant but not "thick"

Wild...no you are NOT CORRECT...The net "invisible" effect of the royal family...as a businessman, not royalist is a massive massive profit

THE ROYAL FAMILY ARE A PROFIT MAKING  BUSINESS

  2. Because you've allowed it for centuries.  You've shown them that you are "thick".

  3. I am happy to pay such a small amount for our royals, I see endless benefits of keeping them.

Why is this money of so much interest, when we are giving the Banks £50Billion on account with another £50Billion  promised if they need more, so they can keep profiting from a financial disaster that they themselves caused.

  4. Even if that is all they cost us, that is still £37.2 million pounds a year and if the government chose to spend that money on foreign aid, they could provide clean, safe drinking water for about 60 million people - the same population as England! (Calculations based on a solar powered water pump, providing water for approx. 50 people costing £35, according to Oxfam website). Or what could that money do if it was spent on schools, hopsitals or social care for the elderly? Just what do the royal family do that is worth £37.2 million pounds a year?

To someone who mentioned tourism... well, plently of people visit France, America and Italy, and they're all republics. I wonder which research you are quoting showing that people visit England SOLELY to see the Royal family, and wouldn't come if we got rid of the weak-chinned, inbred, strange-half-waving lot.

  5. This figure is to say the least very suspect. So too is the tourist claim.

Given that they are seldom actually seen in public tourists do not come here to see them they come to see the buildings and other monuments to what should be our heritage rather than our future.

They are simply not worth the money
