  1. The term "second class" was phased out in the 80s..replaced by the term "standard class".

Virgin trains have replaced "first class" with the term "club class" and other British railway operators a likely to follow.

  2. As previously described. In addition, (depending on the Train Operating Company), you may get an 'at seat' meals service, complimentary coffee, free newspapers etc. In addition it is unlikely that there will be any screaming kids running around.

  3. Price, quality and style of accommodation and services offered.

  4. If you have to ask you are 2nd class...

  5. At the weekend First class is a godsend, london return from wolverhampton only £26 for tickets plus £20 first class on a virgin no screaming kids, no smelly old people. :D worth every penny

  6. One is s h i t and overpriced.  The other is s h i t t i e r and overpriced
