on what base they determine food's expirey label?I have noticed myself even after one week of expirey date my food are still good to eat.Isn't some kind of waste of food,because I am sure many ppl following food dates and throw them away because of the exp.date?

  1. The manufacturer gives you their estimated guess on when the food will no longer be at it's highest quality, doesn't mean it's not still edible (for most things). If it's meat, I would not keep past the expiration date,unless it was frozen before that date came.


  2. I think the expiration date is really the time that the manufacturer deems it to be at the end of it's peak of quality and freshness. It's not necessarily a eat it or throw it out my this date type of thing. Like, many people like leftovers for only one day. It's still good to eat the next day, but people figure it's just time to throw it out as it might have lost some of it's yummy qualities over time.

  3. Better safe than sorry is the motto.  Food is cheap compared to hospitalization for food poisoning.
