On what category are students accepted at Canadian UNiversities?

Hello Canadians, this Q goes to u. Note: I HAVE A RESIDENCE PERMIT TO LIVE IN CANADA so plz ans. accordingly. I want to study in a Canadian Uni next year(m in INdia for the moment). Is the only way to those Univ.s through SATs? I think there is an alternative, tho m not sure. Also, my frnd too wants to go to Canada for studies, and she has no permit. So cud u plz tell me on wat basis students r selectd, r there different norms for ppl with RPs and not? etc etc..

Different Universities have different standards.  Usually acceptance is based on grade point average - your final grades in high school.  I would suggest that you look at the schools you may want to attend and contact their international student support.  They Will be able to give you a much better understanding of what the requirements are.  One thing I am sure you will have to do at any university is an English placement test to make sure your language skills are up to par.  I know at my university all international students had to take the test.  Of course that may have changed, I graduated over 10 years ago.
