Most, if not all airlines allow a 14-year-old to fly alone on domestic flights.  The reason why you cannot buy a ticket from Expedia, though, is that these airlines typically require the purchase of their unaccompanied minor service for passengers under the age of 15.

You might want to go directly to the website of the airline for which you wish to buy a ticket and see how they require payment for these tickets (and the unaccompanied minor fees) to be made.
