  1. Karrier built a road-rail bus in the 1930s for the London Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS). It could carry about 20 passengers. It had conventional road wheels, plus retractable flanged wheels for running on standard gauge railway lines.

  2. Good question!

All to do with "Mechanical horses"..of which the Karrier cob was a type.

  3. The Karrier was a 3 wheeled petrol engineed cab unit for pulling trailers.

    Essentially, they replaced horses.

many railway companies used them for local deliveries from, adn around,  railway yards.

The "Karrier Cob" was introduced in 1930

There are a few still around at transport shows and preservation railways.
