  1. On the east coast of northern Australia there is the Daintree Rainforest.  In southern Australia, west of the Blue Mountains, the terrain turns more and more into desert, until when you reach Ayers Rock in the center of Australia, it's desert.  This stretches westward toward Perth on the west coast of Australia.

    The reason that northern Australia is more tropical than southern Australia is because northern Australia is closer to the equator.
