  1. No - the war had nothing to do with Yom Kippur, except for the date (and the fact that the Arab armies chose the holiest day of the Jewish calendar to attack Israel).  That would be like asking if America's leaders spoke about dialing 9-1-1 on September 11th.

While the war is discussed, including by rabbis, as part of talks about Israeli history or the history of the Jews, it is rarely brought up on Yom Kippur - the holiday is too holy, and concerned with our making atonement for the sins of the year that just ended.  Rabbis generally talk about repentance, renewal of faith, and what we can do to better ourselves.  Nonspiritual matters wait for another day.

Was your report on the war or on the holiday?

  2. No, why should they?

It is not part of religion.

By the way, Yom Kippur War was when Syria and Egypt made a surpise attack on Israel on October 6, 1973.

Israel was at first taken by partial suprise, but in 48 hours rallied and smashed the enemy.

By war's end, almost 3 weeks later, the Syrians were utterly destroyed, and the Egyptians were surrounded and running for their lives.

At the end, Israeli tanks were advancing on Cairo and Israel WON THE WAR.

It was one of the most brilliant military victories in history.

  3. Rabbis do not discuss it on a daily basis. There are more pressing issues. If you would like, go to jewishresourcecard.com for leads to more information about what Rabbis say about the YK war. Try a search on aish.com

  4. The Yom Kippur war was only in 1973 and was only called so because that was the day when the Arab states attacked. It has next to nothing to do with the festival.

Rabbis would not discuss it because it is practically irrelevant in the context of the meaning of Yom Kippur.
