do you take the club back with your shoulders or arms?or both?coz i'm the type who hits it well if i get the club back smoothly, i don't pay much attention to my downswing. coz for me a good downswing is the result of a good backswing right??

  1. for me, i take the club away by turning my left shoulder away from the target, this assures me that I'm making a complete backswing when I see my left shoulder under my chin..

  2. You should start with taking the club back to 90 degrees with your arms, then turn your body from the waist up until the club head is aimed down the target line.  On woods, take it back slow and low, irons you bring down at a steeper angle.

Good back swings do not always mean a good swing, make sure you start the club down before your hips start to turn.

    Good luck.

  3. your core. u use ur torso to generate the power needed and use ur arms to aim

  4. Technically it is hands, arms, shoulders, hips in that sequence on the take-away.  But they follow so closely together that it is almost all at the same time.  Just keep your arms as close together as possible at address, and start the down swing by turning your left hip and you will be fine.  You are correct - if you get into the proper position with a good backswing the downswing almost has to be good.

  5. A good take away doesnt really define a good swing look at J.M.Singh he takes the club back naturally and then alters he down swing to come from inside out, it looks so awkard but thats his style.  The end result is squaring your club face at impact.  I've seen a heap of funny swings (a few quite stupid actually) but let me tell you the final result is beautiful.  The truth is a Pro can tell you the common swings that most people use but then again you may just have your own style, like so many pro's.  Advice would never hurt but then again it doesnt make it correct too.  Practice, Practice, Practice.

  6. You take the club back with your hands because they are the only thing attached to the club. The golf swing is complex you use you lower body and upper body in unison. Your left arm should be relaxed yet firm throughout your backswing. The truth is a good transfer of energy going back makes it much easier to swing through. It would take quite a paragraph to write on the motions so all i can say is your arms are an extension from your hands, The hands takeaway the club the left arm creates leverage and the right arm and right hand apply force and rotate the club through impact.
