Question:

Once, and for all! MYTH, OR NOT?

Me and my buddy have a bet going on. Now i've heard the myth about putting sugar in someones gas tank will cause major problems to their engine. I think it's a myth.

But i SWEAR i saw on t.v one time, where they tested this, and nothing happened to the engine. The sugar didn't change the gas at all.

I thought i could have seen it on Mythbusters, but cant find it on their site? Does anybody know what the show was? OR has anybody ever had this happen to them, and their engine froze up? I wanna settle this once and For all... myth, or not?

  1. You know I was getting ready to agree with your buddy and say that sugar will totally s***w up the gas in a car. That is until I did a lil research! Here's the link saying that its a load of B.S. Thanks! I guess I learned something today too!!

  2. thats a myth

  3. I enjoy Mythbusters as much as anyone.  But the truth is, just because Jamie and Adam couldn't get something to happen doesn't mean that it is a myth rather than fact.  It just means that Jamie, Adam and their team could not get the desired action or occurrence.

As for sugar in the gas tank, I've never done it, nor have I had it done to me.  I have known folks who swore up and down that they had a motor to lock-up due to gas in the tank.

    Doc

  4. mythbusters did do it and im pretty sure they busted it. along with sand ping pong balls moth balls and bleach.

  5. Myth.  The US Army experimented with it in WWII and found out it didn't work.
