I went for an interview at the embassy, And they said if your visa is denied they will tell you on the spot. But if your visa is approved they will give you a pink receipt, so that you can pick up your passport the next day. I am just wondering, once they give you your receipt, does that mean your passport is approved and is getting stamped? or issit still under reviewing?

Please note that the “pink slip” will also contain specific instructions for requesting a different immigrant visa interview appointment, if you are not able to make the one we schedule for you.  Please do not contact the U.S. Embassy prior to the issuance of the “pink slip” requesting specific appointment dates.  In addition to indicating the appointment date and time for the immigrant visa interview, the “pink slip” will also specify the date and time that the immigrant visa, if approved, will be available for pick-up.

do you not have anything written on your pink slip? no date? anything?

  2. There's one and only one stub that shows you your visa is been approved. It must say something like "Please come back at [Date/Time] to pick up your visa. It also shows the visa type." The consular officer should also tell you that your visa is been approved. Usually, the embassy advises people not assume their approval until the actual visa is issued and handed to them.
