Once a hawk finds baby birds will he keep coming back?

We have a robin nest in a tree very close to our house. Their nest is right outside my window. I heard the parent robins squawking so I looked into the tree there was a hawk.

I went outside and clapped my hand so he;d fly.

My questions are:

Will he keep coming back? Or will he give up after he's run off a few times?

Should I try to save the babies? Or should I let nature take its course?

Hmmm...

  1. Prey birds want food and sadly this is nature.

Any interference from you may cause the parents to fly away and not return, they are subject to being taken for food also

and with a hawk there may leave any way.

Clapping hands may be worth trying.

  2. maybe the hawk will find another food source.  just leave things alone, that's the way it was meant to be.

  3. Do not do anything. You will scare the parents and they will leave the babies. The hawk will probably come back to where he knows he can get food. Let nature take its course. I wish you the best in luck with this.

  4. i feel horrible to say this but you have to let nature run its course because if you interfere it might cause the parents too leave the babies. but i think it might come back.

  5. The hawk may not even have a clue where the nest is..most birds will squak at a hawk in their territory so the hawk may not have even seen the nest.  Just let it be..hawks mostly eat snakes, rodents, etc.  Certain kinds of hawks are more likely to prey on baby birds in the nest than others..but they are more likely to go after them once they are out of the nest.  Just let nature take it's course..he may or may be back.
