    The government is a constitutional democracy with a strong emphasis on the presidential figure (unlike European democracies that have a strong emphasis on the figure of the prime minister).

    The flag of Peru was designed, originally by Jose de San Martin. the red in the flag is for the blood spilled by the thousands who fought for the country's independence, and the white is for the peace that he hoped the country would achieve once it was free.
