If an orthodontist makes a change to your teeth, and it throws your entire bite off, can that movement be reversed ever, or can you only go through the entire regiment and create a new bite?

  1. well i would hope that an orthodontic change would be for the better.  it can't really be "reversed" because it would be impossible to actually get the teeth back to the way they used to be.  teeth are attached to the jawbone by ligaments, so it's actually really simple (although painful) to move them around.  the orthodontist had to go through extra post-doc school to learn to do this, so trust that any changes made are going to work out.  i'm not sure if you're having doubts about what is happening to you, and that's why you asked this question, but i had my braces for 2 1/2 years, and my bite probably changed every month.  but the end result is a beautiful smile and perfect bite!  try to just bear with the doc, trust that he knows what he's doing :)
