  1. that day will never come becoz it will never b established!

  2. Well seeing as "freedom of religion" no longer means anything in the United States, and the government has made it plain and clear that only Christians have any right to run for political office in multiple states, and testify in court I'd say it would be pretty soon. We are now endorsing the very principal we broke away from Britain for. But then again, I'm not sure if I would want to be part of this government.

  3. Once Earth starts to tax them for things they produce themselves.

  4. It will be March 6th, 2237, around 3pm in the afternoon, local time.

    Does that answer your question?

  5. My guess is no.  I doubt that an independent colony will be ruled from Earth.  It's too expensive to trade anything other than information.  And it's too far away to rule by remote control. Once a Mars colony can get everything it needs locally, all it has to do to gain independence from Earth is ignore Earth.  I wouldn't have it any other way.

Might make a good science fiction story, though.  Call it "Red Mars", or something.

  6. Probably not long. They'll probably call it the Revolutionary War and have an Independence Day, just like when the States broke off from Britain.

  7. How long till you get some barmy religion claiming martian soil as their holy land and we end up in our first interplanetary holy war?

  8. Do you know this is exactly the theme of the book Red Mars, by Kim Stanley Robinson?  Only it was more like a Trotskyite one instead of a Washingtonian one.
