Once i graduate from college with an Associates Degree for Diagnostic Medical Sonography and being certified.?

and being certified..? can I start work as an ultrasound tech. immediately?

  1. You can work as a sonographer at any point, even without attending an educational program.  But, good luck getting hired anywhere.  

    If you graduate from an ACCREDITED ultrasound program, you can immediately take the licensing examination from the ARDMS.  If you attend a non accredited program, you must work a full year in the field of ultrasound before you can take your licensing exams.  Most employers will not even give you a glance, unless you are registry eligible.  Meaning, you might not have your license, but you are eligible to take the exams.  A prospective employer might hire you with the condition that you pass your ARDMS within X months.
