  1. look it up on Wikipedia, a family of cardinals built a nest out the bathroom window on our grape vine, and they have babies and i looked it up and they fly in 7-13 days its been 4 days since they hatched

  2. It depends whether the bird is precocial or altricial.

Precocial birds can fly, walk, or swim (depending) right out of the egg, or within 24 hours.

Altricial birds need nurishment for a week or more before they are able to leave the nest.

How often the bird lays eggs depends on the species.

  3. I guarantee you these are NOT cowbirds TENDING to the nest.  Yes, cowbirds lay eggs in other birds nests..then LEAVE and let the other birds incubate their eggs and care for the babies.  Sure, there could have been some cowbird eggs in the nest...but the bird doing all the work is not a cowbird..it is the bird that got tricked into raising the cowbirds babies.  Cowbird eggs hatch at about 8 days..while other bird species can vary and will usually take a little longer than this..generally 2 weeks.  Babies leave the nest at a different number of days too depending on species..but generally about 2 weeks as well.  Once they leave the nest...they will continue to care for the babies out of the nest until they can fly well on their own.  They will not reuse this nest again.   Some birds will have a couple nests per season..but it being so late in the breeding season..I am betting they will not try again this year.

  4. it s up to the species i think 2 or 3 months later

  5. For penguins the delay before flying off can be a long one.
