Once we "loose" brain cells, where do they go??

We loose brain cells every day...especially through activities like drugs and alcohol. When we "loose" brain cells, where do they go? What happens to them?

They die, and their components are scavenged or broken down by the body's natural defense.

i dont think we "loose" them. Im fairly sure they simply die. ...I think they just stay there in the brain.
