Question:

Once you file a PayPal dispute, how long do you have to wait to escalate it to a claim?

I ordered something on eBay and it's been 20 business days since it was supposed to be shipped. I'm almost certain that it wasn't shipped. The seller is still active on eBay but isn't responding. I want to file an Item Not Received dispute, but I've never done that before and I'm unfamiliar with the process. I'm also moving on the 21st and will be on the road for a few days w/o internet access.

So I'd like to know... If I file a dispute today, can I escalate it to a claim immediately, or do I have to wait at all? I'm not interested in dealing w/ the seller because she hasn't been helpful so far and the only thing that I'm looking for is a refund. I don't want to miss my 45 day window to file the claim.

  1. You don't have to wait,it's been long enough.Make sure when you contact paypal you let them know the seller isn't responding to your emails, tell them how many times you have contacted them with no reply.

It can take a couple of weeks for them to decide and hopefully if it's in your favor the guy will have some money in his account for paypal to give it back to you.On the other hand if the guy is using a dropshipper and he knows it will take forever to get to you then he is just going to ignore you because it would take too much time for him to explain to everyone whats taking so long and he sure isn't going to tell you he's using a dropshipper. If he is using a dropshipper, when paypal contacts him he will just give the info to paypal and they will decide in his favor and you will just have to wait.Sucks don't it.Sorry.I hope everything works out in your favor.
