I'm getting married November 1st this year...3 months. We're now only starting to talk about where we want to go on our honeymoon. We were thinking Canada. I've heard now you have to have a passport to get in. Will we get our passports in time or did we put it off too long? Thanks!

  1. If you drive to Canada that it isn't required (yet) to show a passport but definitely if you fly to Canada you must have one.

this is from the Canadian website but the rules should be exactly the same for going from the US to Canada.

As of January 31, 2008, Canadian citizens entering the United States by land must present one of the following valid documents:

a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s licence, PLUS a birth certificate or citizenship card; or

    a passport; or

    a NEXUS card; or

a Free and Secure Trade (FAST) card; or

a British Columbia (B.C.) enhanced driver’s licence (EDL); or

a Certificate of Indian Status card; or

for those aged 18 years and under, only proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate or citizenship card, is required.

if you want more info the website is:  http://cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/whti-ivho/land-te...

again, if you decide you want to fly, then you need to get a passport. I live in Canada so I cant give you a time frame...but the sooner the better I suppose!
