One Day in San Diego?

Question

Im going on a trip and part of it will include one day in San Diego. What would you suggest doing in such a short amount of time?

Also - I will not have a car. I will arrive in Downtown area, but am willing to take a bus/taxi around.

Downtown / Gaslamp area is great.

Balboa Park and the Zoo is just up the Hill.

The bay and it's ship museums are just down the street.

Little Italy is close.

Old Town is a very short taxi drive.

I love the San Diego Zoo.  It's huge.

Depends on what type of stuff you're interested in.

You could take a boat over to Coronado (15 minute ride across the bay).  Visit the U.S.S. Midway (www.midway.org) aircraft carrier.  Take a pedicab over to Horton Plaza to do some shopping (outdoor mall).  Walk around Seaport Village (on the water with lots of specialty shops).  If you like baseball, see if the Padres are playing and head over to Petco Park.  

In the evening, spend some time in the Gaslamp where you'll find lots of nice restaurants, lounges, bars, etc.
