One For Harry to be competitive in Norchem Group Novices´ Handicap Hurdle at Sedgefield
One For Harry hasn’t yet made any significant impact over hurdles, but showed good form when securing the sixth place in a maiden at Ayr last month. Now handicapping for the first time, the 4-year-old could show improvement to win Norchem Group Novices´ Handicap Hurdle, to be held at Sedgefield on Tuesday, December 11th.
The Nicky Richards-trained started his career on a high, securing the second place in a tough flat race at Ayr in January. Since switching to hurdles, the bay gelding has not done anything extra special. He was fourth in April, ahead of pulling up in May.
After staying out of action for almost six months, the son of Generous returned with plenty of fire. Ayr’s John Smith's Maiden Hurdle wasn’t an easy contest by any means. Yet, One For Harry made a fairly encouraging run in the hands of Brian Harding to secure the sixth rank.
His last act was solid enough to suggest that he should be very competitive on his handicap debut today. Nine high-quality horses are aiming to stop him from bagging the big prize worth £1,689. The going is soft for the 2m4f contest, which is scheduled to start at 14:50 GMT.
Out of others, Prince Blackthorn makes some appeal. The William Amos-trained made a fair effort to be third last time. He still requires more to be good in this company. Gwladys Street, who struggled on handicap debut last month, does not make any appeal whatsoever.
Stags Leap is just 1lb above the winning mark, but it is hard to go with him after a disappointing effort latest. Shisha Threesixty ran very poorly latest, and would be one of the laggards today.
Sleep In First is making first outing for new trainer, James Ewart. The ground is a huge concern for him. Notonebuttwo was well beaten on handicap debut, and even with cheekpieces, does not make much appeal.
Resoluton is also in poor form, and needs plenty to get back to the right track. Mini The Minx is winless so far, and looks in no good position to thrive. Bolt From The Blue is also looking for improvement to play a role.
