Question:

One Mile Run for track!?!?!?

I've always been a distance runner....

so I decided to run the 1 mile run in track.

The problem is, is that I can't get out of my slower cross country pace...so instead of running a 5:55-6:20 minute mile, I'm getting 6:58-7:02

Does anyone have any tips of how I can get better, faster, or stronger?!?!

Please Help!!!

I have a BIG track meet on friday!!!

  1. train at faster paces, but shorter distances..it may feel uncomfortable at first..but you will get used to it.

  2. well i run steps and walk steps

  3. Those are extremely good times for a girl, I don't think they timed you right or something. You cannot get faster then that unless you die and turn into a ghost.

  4. Well of course you probably already know how you eat and stretch has a huge impact on how you run. Carbs, bananas, and water are key. Also, you'll always run your best if you get on the starting line, already sweating. Stay away from gatorade and vitamin water as well. As for the actually running, I personally try to slow my pace down on the curves of the track, and speed up on the straight-aways. Make sure you keep your knees up when you're running, also. Save as much energy as possible for the last 100m. Good luck!

  5. sprint jog walk... keep repeating for a 2mile run

  6. run 50 steps walk 20 steps thats wat i learned in pe this year it really helps :0
