Question:

One Year Later, Still Waiting for Green Card. What Gives???

It's going to be a year in a month since I finally received a Social Security number/card, did my biometrics and paid all that money, and still no word from immigration on our petition to change our residency status. I'm starting to get anxious. Does it usually take this long? If not, what could be the hold up? Should I be worried? Is there any way for me to check our application status online?

  1. You can make an appointment at the local USCIS branch office through InfoPass to mane an inquiry about your case, if you file AOS in US.

  2. Yep, sometimes it takes longer

  3. It takes time... go to the USCIS website.

To the person above: cool, I love KALIMAN.

  4. Yes it takes time.

No more rubber stamps since 9/11.

  5. It sorta depends on what your current visa status is; but yea it takes longer than a year - 18 months or so in my case to adjust my status, but I'd been on H1B, and it took a couple of steps to get to the actual filing of the I-485.

This was awhile back but from the time I did and submitted my medical exam results up to the actual interview was over a year.  My biometrics were taken just about the same time as the medical exam but the processing was taking place at the same time.
