Question:

One bed bug?

For the past two weeks I have been waking up with bites, totaling three bites in the course of one and a half weeks. Two nights ago, I woke up in the middle of the night, to see this brown bug, affixed to the side of my bed, I did not know what it was, so tried killing the bug but was not successful so managed to toss it in the trash can. I could not go to sleep after that that. I researched about the bug and realized it resembled a bed bug, which freaked me out because I am a neat freak. My boyfriend travels a lot and I feel he somehow brought this bug into my apartment because he told me he slept over at an acquaintance apt. which was very dirty. I have not been able to sleep in my room and have not gotten any more bites after disposing of that one bag. I did not see any bugs when I inspected my mattress but still sprayed the entire room and had the carpet professionally shampooed. I just want to know if anyone knows if I still have these crawlers in my room. I am still spraying the room at night and sleeping on the couch.

Thank you

  1. I remember when I was a kid.....itchy just thinking....you were lucky to see one....they live in the cording and will travel to couch etc,, get a good spray...looked on the net,  lots of them

do everywhere and anything upholstered,   good luck

  2. I know they look 'orrid but they are quite cute little creatures really and are completely harmless. Due to the way they feed off us they cannot pass on any deceases and can live off one feed of human blood for up to 18 months! I was bit while in Malta and felt privileged! After all, the species is lots older than humans! They live in tiny cracks and crevices in the walls, etc. You're probably right, your boyfriend brought it home with him attached to his clothes. That's how the little fellers are becoming a world wide species now, well, that and the fact that we have almost unified climates in our homes, i.e. central heating and air conditioning! On the bright side, you probably only have one so chances are it won't breed!
