One day in to the season and the first controversial penalty decision is given?

Does my suggestion of video replay assistance for the referee, still sound daft, or will we wait for yet more howlers?

  1. Yes what a bore. Conspiracy season is off and running.

  2. I understand what your saying but that will slow the game right down as every player will be challenging weaker refs to stop the game to look at footage for 1-5mins.

so basically if games start at 3.00pm they could finish after 7.00pm and i'm not kidding

    and would fans want that?

    not i!

  3. What was controversial about it?? if we had replays then reversals for every bad decision from officials...  Celtic would win the league by xmas.

    Stand up for the Champions..

  4. hanning will get his red card binned on monday....

  5. yes video evidence would be ok as long as they don't use setanta camera's as they never seem to work for the full 90 mins

  6. i dont agree with video replays, different angles on video can sometimes look different from what actually happened so we would still have the contoversy.

As I said Saoirse, we could still get that bad decision because of the video so whats the difference? You see pundits in the studio watching challenges etc over and over again without agreement so the ref can still easily call it wrong from quickly watching a video replay

  7. Yep agree with penalty decisions to be decided using camera's, using a system similar to Wimbledon if a player makes a claim and is wrong he is yellow carded the team overall gets three appeals.

I dont however belaive in video refs for all instances such as offside and such as contraversial decisions make our sport the best in the world it may not seem that way but if refs didnt get it wrong sometimes what would we talk about?

  8. Ref. made a howler it's a pity you can't use video evidence now but lets hope that rule changes.

  9. saiorse, from my vantage point in the ground,it looked a stonewaller but seeing it again and again, dodgy without a doubt.

  10. I still don't like the idea really as once they start using video replay for one thing they will want to use it for everything, then a 90 min game of footie will end up taking a lot longer due to the stopping and starting constantly. If it was only ever used for penalty decisions and ball over the line then yes.

Let's face it us fans suffer enough sometimes without someone taking our right away to moan about the decisions the ref and the linesmen make.

Mind you on saying that how many games would celtic actually win if that happened,oh think you maybe onto something lol

  11. it should already have been brought in to save all this nonsense..will hainning got a red card for nothing.....as long as the decisions are going for and not against the old firm you won't hear much moaning..wait till they are on the receiving end of a dodgy decision
