We will be in Venice for 3 nights and we are planning to visit Lake Garda for one day.

My question is :

1. Which town train station in Lake Garda is easily accessible and has a best view.

2. Also, while in Lake garda which other town can we go to if we could only choose to go to two towns.

Any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

  1. 1) The train station on the lake nearest to Venice is in Peschiera

From there you can easily go to:

Torri, Garda, Bardolino, Lazise, Castelnuovo (where there is Gardaland, Italy n°1 amusement park)

Another train station is in Desenzano

From there you can go to Sirmione, I haven't been there but i think it's very beautiful... there you can also visit the "Grotte" (caves) of Catullo...

    2) Surely Verona! The city of Romeo and Giulietta, famous for its wonderful Arena, the third largest amphitheatre in Italy, after the Colosseum and the amphitheatre of Capua, built in the first half of the 1st century A.D...

  2. 1. Lake Garda is beautiful from any spot.

    2. Verona! Verona!

  3. you can arrive to "Peschiera del garda" station, and there you can go to Sirmione, it's really nice. If you wanna have fun you can go to Gardaland... ;) i give to you the a link for help you with trains:

  5. Peschiera del Garda is the closest station, but Desenzano is only a few minutes further from Venice, has a Roman ruin, views of Sirmione, and the boat to Sirmione only takes 20 minutes.

There are good restaurants and interesting things to see and do in either place. I would highly recommend going to Sirmione on the end of the peninsula though. There's a nice castle, an extensive Roman villa ruin, great views of the lake and mountains, and a nice walking path out to the end of the peninsula.

If you had more time, the north end of the lake is very nice. Malcesine and Limone are both excellent places to visit.
