  1. The question is two sided as it depends on the type of liquor and how many ounces is the serving.

Types of alcohol are named based on their proof or percentage of what is consider 100% alcohol.

Harder alcohol or spirts like whiskey, burbon & vodka have a certain proof or percentage, this proof is generally around 80 to 100  but can be lower or higher from 40 to 200 proof. This proof equals half of the percentage, thus 150 proof whiskey is 75% of what is considered pure alcohol  and an alcohol that is 60 proof would be 30% pure alcohol.

Other alcohols have different percentages that vary,  the percentage of alcohol will denote the type of alcohol it is  i.e, malts, beer, wine, sherries, sake, here is a quick break down of the percent, which you can then calulate the amount.

beer 2 -5% so a 12 oz beer than would be less than an ounce

    especially light beer

malts and ales 5-8 % so a 16 oz pint would be about 1 ounce.

wine 10 - 12% so a glass of wine 6 oz glass would be about  three quartes ounces

a shot of hard liqour would be about half  - three quartes ounce.

Be careful drinking it can lead to dangerous and sometimes irrversable damage, even social drinking can be dangerous if it leads to benging and excessive drinking, and a blood alcohol level about 4% is usually deadly.

AND NEVER DRINK PURE ALCOHOL THERE IS A REASON THAT IT BURNS GOING DOWN!!!
