what do you think of the media's lack of coverage of the caps possiblity of making history with awards tonight, i think the caps deserve a little more coverage than they get. We all know that this is redskins country and that its a city that only watchs when the other teams are winning but comeon the caps have (debateable to othe fans) the best player in hockey they need to market him better.

  1. I find that very hard to believe that very little coverage of Alex winning the Award isn't getting pub in Washington. The Redskins haven't had a good team in years, the Bullets/Wizards haven't had a good team..Ever,although Gilbert Arenas was a stud with the Wizards but their losing him and the Nats have a long way to go to compete seriously.I feel Ovie is the best player in the world and I am sure if he does win the Award tonight that will be the lead in all of the sports programs in the DC area.

Manute Bol didn't win the MVP in the NBA?Shocking.

  2. Well, that is just WRONG!  Lindsay Czarniak LOVES the O, so I am surprised...but not really.  This town loves those sorry 'Skins better than just about anything...they have had major, breaking national and international stories, and good 'ole Channel 4 (WRC TV) leads with the 'Skins score...even when they lose...the White House could probably be on fire and they would STILL report on local football as the lead!  Puh-leeze!

BTW, I saw the awards ceremony, and Alex was self-effacing, thanked the coach, the team, the fans, said he was happy and that he loved everybody!

I love that he is not stuck on himself, and I just LOVE the way he acts like a joyful three-year-old, jumping up and down when he scores...those crazy score celebrations make the clips just about every night that they play!

  3. The award show wasn't even televised in DC last year.  We made history, and today Ovechkin got the key to the city.  Not bad coverage if you ask me.

Andrew-I mean they wrote an article about it, and it was on local news quite a bit, but if you were hoping for a heart trophy parade that might be a bit much.  I was quite pleased with the coverage seeing as how just last season hockey was a half inch log column in the back of the sports section after being one upped by high school volleyball.
