We're going to spend one full day in Barcelona, flying from Madrid in the morning and leaving Barcelona at night. What is the best thing to do?

  1. Enjoy the view of all the things in Spain and take lots of pictures.  Spain has a lot of historical sites.  Go shopping, it is fun to buy things from a different country where you don't always get to shop at.

  2. Wow!  there is so MUCH!  If I only had, like 12 hours, I would probably try to keep it simple.  Lunch on the Rambla, stroll around the Barr'i Gotic, walk up and down the Rambla, maybe shop at Plaza de Cataluna.  There's a big Corte Ingles there.  wander into a couple of shops on the Rambla.  Wouldn't try to get too complicated.  If you have time, at the Port Vell there is a mall and some excellent sea food restaurants.  But keep to one district.  If you had more time, the Eixample and the Gaudi buildings,  Art museums, parks, the beach (depending on the season, of course, in the winter, you can still stroll along the sand, but I don't think you want to take your shoes off.  It's warmer than other parts of Spain, but still pretty chilly.)

  3. A full day is not enough to see Barcelona. But, you can do a trip with the "hop on - hop off" bus and in 3-4 hours you'll see the "must see" places of the city. Than you can use the others hours just to walk and admire you liked more.

  4. Barcelona is beautiful! Go to the beach (Platja in Catalan) and drink a coffee at the beach market place or take the breakfast there! A lot of things to do :-D
