Question:

One goldfish is chasing the other and bumping into its vent!?

but only some times, i thought they were breeding so i put them in a separate tank, my other tank that they used to be in doesn't have very good conditions, that's why i moved them. my fishes are all comets, now that i put them in a separate tank (that's half the size of the old one) they wont chase anymore, i think the male one is developing breeding tubercles but it looks like a pattern of small white dots! so are my fish breeding? they are all at least 2 and half years old!

  1. Sounds like it. You should have just let them spawn because you may have put your female fish in a lot of danger by tanking the male out. If she starts to develop eggs, but doesn't spawn she will become egg bound. The eggs are basically stuck and can begin to rot. Then you will need to help her and get some special medication. You are better off putting the male back in and removing all the decorations so there is less stuff to crash into. You can then either raise the eggs to fry or just get rid of it. But yeah. Don't let your female become egg bound it's dangerous.  


  2. lol  i dont know , but my fish used to do that, she'd like bump my other 2 fish into the walls of the tank and like  5 days later the 2 fish died and shes still living 3 years later. :]
