Question:

One line, two phone jacks. how?!?

okay i can't find an answer anywhere. i have a phone jack i want to connect a phone to and use the same phone line (have just one phone number).. how do i connect up all the colored cords (red, green, ect.) i have a picture if need be.

  1. I am a Phone company repairman. I'm not sure what your question is. What exactly are you trying to do? Be more specific and I'll tell you how to do it.


  2. Connect the red green wires to the red green leads of the jack. Sometimes the wires might be blue and white-blue, if that is the case then u connect those colors to the red-green leads of the jack. Visit the site below it has useful information about land lines. Good luck.

  3. There is an RJ11 jack to convert single line to two lines. It should be available at your nearest electronics center. Just plug it to your wall outlet.

    However, if you want to do the wiring yourself, normally, the jack has red, green, yellow, and black wires. Or just red and green. Normally only 2 wires are being used. Red and green. Or the inner leads. If you count the wire leads 1,2,3,4 from the edge, they are 2 and 3. Connect your additional jack to 2 and 3.

  4. If you don't absolutely have to "rewire" the extension, it may be easier to just connect a Y or T phone jack "splitter".
