Im looking for an suv with interior and exterior in good shape but needs engine or transmission work. My husband and his brother and there dad are excellent mechanics they can fix anything just like it was new except body work is not there specialty so I want something thats in fairly good shape on the outside. Iv always wanted an suv and sense iv been married we've never bought a new car my husband refuses too because of the prices and payments and haveing to pay full coverage and we cant afford all that. I wecked my 2003 ford focus its totaled now im driving a 1980 honda something or other it drives good but its ugly! I found an Isuzu Trooper on Craigslist but it was gone by the time we got there. Almost everytime on Craigslist when I find something its gone or it gets gone or gets sold before we can get there. Where else can I look for a fixer upper?

  1. The thing is that you're going to end up with a POS. If it's worth less to just fix the car than to junk it then people will just fix it and resell it. If you're looking at old SUVs you should also be concerned with fuel economy and the higher risk of them rolling over. You can't drive an SUV like your car.

People are running away from SUVs like the plague now so you could probably find a good running one for fairly cheap.

  2. eBay motors

I just looked on there for a totally unrelated reason and saw more than 20 SUV and trucks for less than $500, in decent shape, in central Illinois only. Also, eBay is more reliable than craigslist.
