  1. I'm not an expert on business motivation, so I won't be giving you the best answer ever on this topic. One thing I do know is the high demand for wood in countries like the United States. We use it for paper, furniture, flooring, housing, and so much more. The developed nations have a right to destroy these rain forests (legally) if they make an agreement with the nations that own the land. I have no reason to doubt that industries have gone into territories unlawfully to destroy even more rain forests. The desire for more leads humans to do unspeakable things.

One thing that I have noticed is that there are people who will do anything for a profit. If many people raise awareness about this disaster (to say the least), then a stand can be taken against this. We can find ways to avoid use of even more wood. Recycling is one way that works well. Another method, which is actually unlikely, is legislation. I can't seem to word what I'm think of, but legislation is most definitely the main idea.

Overall, something has got to give. Humanity has only one planet to work with. Carelessness about out destructive activities does not go on unpunished. The consequences of our actions are becoming more and more visible. Without change, we our only dooming ourselves.
