  1. try getting another bird like shady and take spike to the vet &i'm pretty sure they will have depression stuff for most animals. sorry for your loss

  2. If I were you, I'd go buy another cockatiel and put them together right away to give the one you have more of a reason to live right now.

  3. Awww that's so sad. I really don't think there is a way that you can help poor little Spike. Like they say, he is definitely missing Shady.I guess you should just to try to confort him. Good Luck!

  4. Um...If spike is chirping more than usual...its probably telling you that something is hurting him allot.

Since Shady died...it probably did because it was sick...Clean the cage with something that is not harmful to your pet.

keep a good eye on the bird and check if it is eating or drinking. If not and begins with the chirping again...then you should contact the vet for any exams for the pet....

  5. well i think you should begin with hand feeding him and paying lots more attention. spike needs the attention know more then ever. you think to think of it like as if you lost a loved one. it is an attachment thats unbreakable for the birds and once it is torn then they feel the depression. try giving him more fatty foods and maybe if you can introduce him to a new friend. i don't know if he will befriend and other bird but its worth the try! maybe even talking to someone who specializes in birds like a bird store or pet store employee will help. they deal with is often after someone buys a bird and leaves the mate. also there are toys that will comfort him like the furry pal from pj pets like a big furry long thing that hangs and it is warm against the bird. an other thing to  do is play some music when you are not there this will make him think he is not alone. hope this comes in handy!

  6. i agree there with samantha , it might be wise to take him to a vet also get him checked over.

Scrub that cage with a bird friendly disinfectant. He may get lonely now but you can also introduce another, or even put them side by side so he has someone to talk to.

    sorry for your loss

  7. I don't think he will kill his self. One of my birds died and we bought another one and he is perfectly fine. What I think you should do is get another bird and hopefully he will be ok. Hope that helps!!!!
