One of my contacts fell out while I was sleeping and dried up. It's part of a pretty expensive pair and its the only pair I have, too! Does anyone know how I can save it?

  1. You shouldn't try and save it.  I'd try and switch to disposables.  Eye infections are no fun.

  2. Put it in a bunch of contact solution.

Water also works. It sometimes can't be saved.

So leave it in for the day and wear your glasses.

it is very bad to sleep with them in. Sometimes while sleeping they can tear and be hard to remove by yourself.

I suggest you get disposables they feel better on your eyes

  3. try puting it back in.

  4. I don't think you can, or should.

It is meant to be hydrated, if it's not it's a gonner. Throw it away before it does you some harm. Call your eye doctor and get a replacement.

  5. you really shouldnt try to save it but if you did the best idea is to try putting it back in to some solution and see how you go

  6. If your contacts are expensive, you might be able to save the lens. That's because they are generally made of a higher quality material than disposable contacts. Soak it in a saline solution until it becomes soft again. Make sure it's clean before putting it on your eye. I've had a few contact lenses dry out inside their cases because I didn't use them for a while and then I filled them up again. Most of the time, I was able to wear them without problems.

Let me add that I started wearing contact lenses long before disposables became available. If I lost or damaged one, my only options were to get it replaced at great expense or if I had thought of it, use the insurance policy I had taken out for that reason. As a result, I was very careful about the lenses and if I lost one and it dried out, I definitely would have soaked it in saline solution and re-used it.

  7. Put the lens in the saline solution it will get soft again, and then look it over for any possible tears.clean and sanitize, and see your Optalmologist.  They come in disposables, now and see if that is a possiblility for you.
